Drenched in oil, i strike a few bodybuilder poses – upper body, arms, abs, legs – for the eager press. i feel gorgeous and intimidating as i flex, showcasing every ounce of my power and muscularity at the weigh-in. stepping down from the scale, i lock eyes with my opponent, a tense stare down. "i'll see you in the ring," i declare.before stepping into the ring, i shadowbox, my body glistening with oil, my hands expertly wrapped by my cornerman. he assists me with my gloves and robe. it's finally time to step into the arena.the camera zooms in on me, my white mouthguard in place, as i square off with my opponent. the intensity in my eyes is palpable; we both know we're about to hurt each other. with a fierce glove touch, we signal the start of the battle. i return to my corner for some last-minute instructions, and then the fight is on.early in the fight, i find myself in trouble. my opponent is formidable, and i'm taking a beating.i retreat to my corner, where my second removes my mouthguard, leaving a thread of saliva on my chin. he spreads vaseline on my face. "you can do this," he reassures me.as the rounds pass by, i slowly start to recover, each corner scene marked by my mouthguard, saliva, and the refreshing splash of water.it's the final round. i'm beyond exhausted, my face showing the wear and tear of battle. i rise from my corner, determination burning in my eyes.
