I'm your boss and you come into my office ready to prepare for an important meeting we have together with a client. You take notice that I’m wearing a nice white button-down shirt and have a freshly trimmed beard. I start listing all the things we need to go through, and I notice you start eating a sandwich. I allow it and proceed with briefing you on the meeting. As you eat, I see that you are sprinkling some kind of powder on your food. You tell me it is your home-made chili spice mix. I am intrigued and ask if I can give it a whiff to see how good it is. I have a great sense of smell and enjoy spices so I must sample some.

I give it a deep sniff with my nose and some of it goes into my nostril. Immediately it acts like a sneezing powder and I enter a sneezing fit that I have no control over and cannot stop. I start sneezing very loudly and cannot even finish my sentences. I am out of breath, breathing deeply in between sneezes. My face starts to get red, and my eyes start to tear up. The sneezes come quickly one after the other. After sneezing for what seems to be an eternity they suddenly subside.

I cannot look like this for the meeting! The clients will think something is wrong with me. I look like I’ve been sick or crying all day. My nose is stuffy and red, and my eyes are puffy from the strong sneezes. Maybe if I smell some more of your chili powder, I will sneeze some more and clear everything out together.

I sniff again, and the sneezes come back even stronger this time. I start to blow my nose and all the while you are watching me, sitting in front of me with a smile on your face. It appears that you actually enjoy watching me sneeze all over you. Despite you practically needing an umbrella or sneeze shield you like me spraying all my sneezes and spit toward you with some of it spraying right on your face.

I am starting to get nervous about the meeting, so I ask you to do it for me. I will do anything for you to replace me by taking one for the team. I’ll even let you come into my office again just to watch me sneeze for your enjoyment. You of course agree as you couldn’t possibly get a better deal than my appreciation AND personal pleasure.
